Medha Gandhi is a public health and development leader with over 25 years of experience working across health systems, sexual and reproductive health and rights, gender equality, adolescent health, and, more recently, climate resilience.
Over the course of her career, she has worked across government, philanthropy, civil society, and global institutions, helping shape policies, strengthen systems, build partnerships, and advance solutions to complex social challenges.
Much of her work has focused on bringing diverse stakeholders together around shared priorities, translating evidence into action, and helping institutions navigate the space between ambition and implementation. Today, through Counterpoint, she advises funders, governments, think tanks, professional associations, and development organisations on strategy, coalition building, stakeholder engagement, and systems change.
Selected Work
For more than two decades, Medha has worked to strengthen access to contraception, abortion care, maternal health services, and adolescent health programmes—contributing to policy reform, programme design, and innovations that expand reproductive choice.
Across abortion care, adolescent health, and the introduction of new health innovations, she has convened government, professional associations, funders, practitioners, and civil society to build alignment and collective action.
Medha has supported national and state institutions in designing strategies, implementation pathways, stakeholder engagement processes, and interventions that connect policy understanding with practical delivery.
Her recent work explores how climate change reshapes health systems, vulnerabilities, and development outcomes, and how partners can strengthen resilience, equity, and adaptive capacity.
Throughout her career, Medha has worked with organisations including the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, CARE, Ipas, CEDPA/C3, professional associations, and a wide range of national and global partners. Her work spans policy advocacy, programme design, health systems strengthening, stakeholder engagement, coalition building, and strategic advisory across sectors and geographies.
Alongside her advisory work, Medha contributes to conversations on public health, gender equality, reproductive rights, systems change, and climate resilience through articles, publications, convenings, and public dialogue.
